Slip resistance
Polished concrete, worn sealers and smooth trowelled slabs can be slippery when wet. We change the surface by honing it, or with an anti-slip treatment. Where you need a measured result, we can arrange an independent slip tester before and after.
What you see. Usually a move from shine to matte. Honing takes the gloss off and opens up the texture that gives grip. An anti-slip treatment keeps more of the look, with a fine texture underfoot.
Where it suits. Pool concourses and aquatic centres, amenities blocks and change rooms, ramps, stairs and entries, shop and cafe floors near doors, and polished floors in public buildings.
What to know. Slip resistance is a measured number, not a description. It depends on the surface, what is on it (water, oil, sand) and how it is cleaned. A floor that tests well and is then cleaned with the wrong product can turn slippery again, so cleaning advice is part of the job.

How it runs
- 1
Assess
We look at the floor, how it is used and cleaned, and any slip test results you already have. A baseline test can be arranged.
- 2
Trial
A small trial area is treated before we commit to the whole floor, so you can see and feel the change.
- 3
Treat
Honing or an anti-slip treatment across the area, with dust extracted at the source.
- 4
Hand over
Cleaning advice to keep the result. If a retest is arranged, the tester's report comes to you directly.
Working with councils and commercial sites
Dust controlled at the source
Grinding with H-class extraction connected, or wet methods where suited, in line with Queensland's code of practice for respirable crystalline silica. Operators are trained and fit-tested for respiratory protection.

Reporting you can audit
Photos before and after, locations, quantities and any defects found, delivered with the invoice. On maintenance programs, a running register by street or site.

Questions
What standard do you test to?
Existing floors are tested to AS 4663. New surfaces are classified to AS 4586. Standards Australia handbook HB 198 sets out the rating suited to each use, such as pool surrounds, ramps or entries.
Is slip testing included?
No. Testing is done by an independent tester, not by us, so the result stands on its own. We can arrange one before and after the work; it is quoted separately and the report comes to you.
Can polished concrete be made safer and stay polished?
Partly. An anti-slip treatment keeps some sheen. For wet areas such as pool surrounds and amenities, honing is the reliable answer, and it is what we recommend.
How long does the result last?
A honed surface is the concrete itself, so the texture lasts. Treatments wear with traffic and cleaning. On busy public floors, a retest every year or two is worth doing.
