Park and public furniture

Concrete seats, benches, planters and walls in public spaces weather, stain, chip and collect graffiti. Re-honing takes the damaged surface back to clean concrete, and a sealer made for outdoor use slows the next round.

What you see. Clean concrete with the stone showing again, matte and grippy. Edges are eased so they are comfortable to sit on.

Where it suits. Park and foreshore seating, streetscape and plaza benches, planter and seating walls, memorials and feature walls, and school and campus furniture.

What to know. Deep graffiti, rust and oil can go further into concrete than a re-hone reaches. We test a hidden area first and say what will come out. Anti-graffiti sealers make the next clean easier; they do not stop graffiti.

Questions

Can you remove graffiti from concrete seats?

Usually. Paint that has stayed on the surface comes off in the re-hone. Paint that has soaked deep into porous concrete can leave a ghost; the test area shows which before you commit.

Do the seats need to be removed?

No. The work is done in place, with a small area fenced off around each piece.

How long does a re-honed seat stay clean?

It depends on the site. The sealer slows staining and makes cleaning easier, and is worth reapplying every few years on busy seats.
